LADY BIRD heeft vannacht de Golden Globe Awards gewonnen voor Beste Film – Musical of Comedy en Beste Actrice – Musical of Comedy (Saoirse Ronan).

Regisseur en scenarioschrijver Greta Gerwig bedankte in haar speech haar ouders en “the people in Sacramento who gave me roots and wings and helped me to get to where I am today.” Gerwig groeide op in Sacramento en LADY BIRD speelt zich af in deze stad.
Daarnaast bedankte ze haar “beautiful cast” waaronder “the goddesses Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf”, die te zien zijn als moeder en dochter in de film.
