Als onderdeel van IGN First zijn er wat nieuwe wapens onthuld voor Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. De zwaarden, dubbel zwaarden, glaive, pijl en boog, hebben we al in de demo gezien. Maar nu zijn er ook een staf, poleaxe, spee, sabre. Director Masakazu Hirayama legt uit dat er zijn 17 wapens in totaal en 13 daarvan zijn melee en 3 daarvan voor afstand.
Hij legt uit, “We chose weapons that were the best match for Chinese martial arts. The motions for each weapon type were based on motion-captured forms performed by real martial artists specialized in these weapons. Then we tuned things here and there to make them feel good as an action game.”
Waar sommige wapens makkelijker zijn in de omgang dan andere, legt producer Fumihiko Yasuda uit de game een goeie balans ervoor heeft.
“If you master the combos of a weapon type and get used to the Martial Arts of your weapon, you should be able to beat the game without switching weapons. However, from a game design perspective, we do advise the player to switch weapons depending on the enemy’s attack patterns,” zegt Yasuda.
Wapens en armor worden geupgrade in de blacksmith, dit kost geld en materiaal. Hirayama onthulde ook dat je de passieve status van je wapen over kan geven op een ander wapen. “By examining the weapons you collected and attaching their status effects to your favorite weapon, you can build weapons that are specialized in all sorts of things, ranging from big damage dealers to healing-focused weapons.”
Je kan ook meer dan 40 soorten armor vinden, elke set heeft zijn eigen bonus.
“Fans of the Three Kingdoms period can look forward to finding iconic weapons and armor from their favorite warlords too. For example, you can roleplay as Guan Yu by wearing his armor while upgrading the Azure Dragon Crescent Glaive to make it super strong,” zegt Yamagiwa.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty komt op 3 maart uit voor de Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, en PC. De game komt dag één uit op de gamepass.
