The Wolf, the Fox & the Leopard, de nieuwe film van David Verbeek, beleeft zijn wereldpremière tijdens het 24ste Tribeca Film Festival dat van 4 tot en met 15 juni plaatsvindt in New York. Het is de negende speelfilm van David Verbeek die eerder films als R U There (Un Certain Regard, Cannes 2010), How to Describe a Cloud (IFFR 2013) en Full Contact (Toronto International Film Festival 2015, IFFR 20216) maakte. Gusto entertainment verwacht The Wolf, the Fox & the Leopard van Lemming Filmbegin 2026 in de bioscoop uit te brengen.
Het zwarte hedendaagse sprookje The Wolf, the Fox & the Leopard schetst via een kadervertelling het verhaal van een verwilderde jonge vrouw (Jessica Reynolds) die door wolven is opgevoed en in de moderne samenleving terechtkomt. De film onderzoekt poëtisch hoe de mens zich verhoudt tot de natuur in een tijd van klimaatverandering en ecologische verwarring. In plaats van een politieke boodschap, biedt The Wolf, the Fox & the Leopard een existentiële reflectie op wat het betekent om mens te zijn in een wereld die niet om ons draait.
Naast Jessica Reynolds (Kneecap, Lifehack, Derry Girls) spelen Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, Long Bright River, This Town), Marie Jung (Songs Within, Capitani, Egon Schiele), Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (Dark, Desperate Journey, Borgen) en de Japanse arthouse regisseur Naomi Kawase (Sweet Bean, Still the Water, Radiance) de belangrijkste rollen.
