Onder de vele aankondigingen tijdens het X019 event, zat ook Tell Me Why van Dontnod Entertainment. Het verhaal gedreven avontuur ziet de tweeling Tyler en Alyson Ronan terugkeren naar hun jeugd om traumas op te lossen.
Dontnod heeft nu ook bevestigd dat de game exclusief naar de Xbox en PC zal komen. Xbox Game Studios zal de titel uitgeven, deze zal drie afleveringen groot zijn. Xbox Game Studios uitgevende GM Peter Wyse liet weten , “We listened closely to fans of narrative adventure games, and we heard loud and clear how painful unpredictable gaps between episodes can be. We’re thrilled to announce that the entire Tell Me Why story will release in Summer 2020.”
Zowel Tyler als Alyson zullen speelbaar zijn in de game. De ontwikkelaar bevestigde ook dat Tyler geidentificeerd kan worden als een Transgender er wordt samengewerkt met GLAAD om het karakter goed neer te zetten. “Microsoft and Dontnod have approached Tyler with a real commitment to authenticity. Tyler is a fully-realized, endearing character, whose story is not reduced to simplistic trans tropes. Creating a playable lead trans character – and taking such care to get it right – raises the bar for future LGBTQ inclusion in gaming,” aldus Nick Adams, Director of Transgender Representation at GLAAD.
