Maandag 11 maart jl. werd op het South By Southwest festival de film MONKEY MAN voor het eerst aan het publiek vertoond. In aanwezigheid van de cast en de filmmakers was er een korte introductie van hoofdrolspeler en regisseur Dev Patel:
“The action genre has been abused by the system. I wanted to give it soul. Real trauma. Real pain. You guys deserve that. I wanted to infuse it with a little bit of culture.” Na afloop van de film ontvingen Jordan Peele en Dev Patel een staande ovatie, wat niet gewoonlijk is bij het South by Southwest festival.
