De servers zijn al 20 jaar in de lucht voor twee games en nu is het moment daar, Daybreak Entertainment gaat de stekker trekken uit Planetside en Legends of Norrath.
De servers voor de MMOFPS Planetside zullen op 1 juli aanstaande offline gaan.
Daybreak—eerder bekend als Sony Online Entertainment—bracht het nieuws in een forum post. “PlanetSide 1 has a very important history with Daybreak Games and a special place in the hearts of those who work on its successor. While we have run the game for free since 2014, due to evolving business needs and technical requirements it has become necessary to conclude this service.”
Legends of Norrath, een standalone CCG in het EverQuest universum blijft nog iets langer live en zal op 17 augustus de deuren sluiten.. “Legends of Norrath has not had an active development team for quite some time and in the best interest of our company and players, we have made the difficult decision to close the servers,” aldus Daybreak.
Om klachten te voorkomen is het vanaf 18 juli niet meer mogelijk om booster packs aan te schaffen. Spelers die nog packs hebben die geopend moeten worden, dienen dit te doen voor de servers offline gaan, op deze wijze is het mogelijk om je spullen mee te nemen naar EverQuest en EverQuest II.
“We know some of you are extremely enthusiastic about some of the items that were previously introduced in the Legends of Norrath TCG packs. These loot rewards will continue to be available to players through other means. Look to the Marketplace for packs which give an opportunity for rewards from previous LON sets. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.”
